Tooth extractions are also necessary if the tooth is impacted. Impacted teeth are teeth that haven't erupted from the gum line because the jaw isn't large enough to accommodate them.

If a tooth has been broken or damaged by decay, there's a good chance it can be repaired with a crown or a filling rather than a tooth extraction. However, if these options aren't possible because the tooth has too much damage, extraction may be recommended.

Whether you need a simple or surgical extraction, we'll provide you with the most effective anesthetics to ensure that you won't feel any pain during your procedure. You'll likely feel pressure on the area as we remove the tooth, but the process won't hurt.

After tooth extraction, it's normal to experience some post-surgical symptoms, including:

• Swelling
• Bleeding
• Sensitivity

These symptoms should subside within just a few days. However, the jawbone will still need a few weeks to fully heal before restoration or replacement can be performed.

We will provide you with instructions to follow after your dental extraction. These may include:

• Avoiding the area with your toothbrush during the healing process
• Using an antimicrobial mouthwash to keep the area clean
• Taking prescribed or over-the-counter pain relievers
• Avoiding strenuous activities for a day or two after the extraction

Teeth extractions are needed when a tooth cannot be repaired, such as when it has been severely damaged due to trauma or decay or if it's impacted below the gum line. In some cases, wisdom teeth are removed to prevent overcrowding in the mouth.

We may prescribe an antibiotic or pain medication to help manage discomfort and prevent infection. You may notice some bleeding when brushing your teeth for the first couple of days after your extraction. This is normal and should stop within a couple of days.
